DEPENDABLE – Any company wants its top financial officer to be a pillar of integrity, financial acumen, responsibility and accuracy. We can count on Ellen for all this and more. She’s an invaluable asset at SKM because she oversees all financial and personnel matters for the agency. Ellen does a sterling job of it, too, and that’s not just our opinion. In 2010, she was honored by Business First newspaper as “Financial Executive of the Year” in the Private Company category.

“Our main goals are impeccable ethics and accuracy delivered in a timely manner,” Ellen says. With that mission in mind, she leads a team responsible for SKM banking, accounting and legal relationships, plus all internal budgeting and reporting. “One of my most important tasks is to make sure the company is always in excellent fiscal health,” she adds.

On the human resources side, Ellen has added a rainbow of family-friendly ideas to our colorful offices. SKM Group offers all employees innovative benefits like flexible starting times and bonus floating vacation days in summer and winter.

She was the guiding force behind the SKM Missionary Awards, a monthly “contest” in which staffers submit written kudos for their peers based on exceptional effort or achievement. Each month, and quarterly, our old ship’s bell summons the entire company to the “Psycho-Deli” cafeteria, where winners are announced and awarded gift debit cards. Each winner also earns the right to possess the SKM gnome mascot for the following month.

Now approaching 20 years with SKM Group (we said she was dependable), Ellen enjoys hiking and skiing with her husband. She loves the outdoors, even during the snow and cold of a Buffalo winter. Which is kind of crazy, but we love her anyway.
