Broker Video Sharing

SITUATION
InterBay Funding, LLC., a small-balance commercial lender, wanted to expand their communications with their mortgage broker network. Since InterBay originated loans exclusively through brokers, it was important that they stay top-of-mind and find ways to help support brokers in the loan process.
CHALLENGE
InterBay felt they were not truly leveraging the immense knowledge inherent in the over 150,000 brokers who originated small-balance commercial loans. Since brokers tended to be geographic-based, there was little competition among brokers in different areas, which allowed them to get advice and feedback from other brokers about the commercial loan process. However, outside of trade shows and some trade publication forums, there was very little support to this knowledge transfer. InterBay wanted to help facilitate this and have the benefit of keeping themselves in front of the brokers in a very competitive marketplace.
SOLUTION
SKM built a video-sharing site so brokers could record and upload video on topics of interest, then comment on the video content. As part of an overarching social strategy, the video site gave brokers the opportunity to have visual interactions and to learn from one another. InterBay included their own educational videos and served as facilitator for this education portal.
RESULTS
InterBay Funding curated an extensive library on a range of topics and experienced a surge of participation on their InterBay.tv website. The company strengthened its position as a leader in the small commercial mortgage broker network and as a company that supported its customers.
